Nearly Done One

Thought I was all on track for Advocate Art Award this year and then realised there was the opportunity to submit two works.  And I can never resist.  So I really have to get Betty done this weekend so I can brush up something next weekend!

Little Camels for a Small Change and . . .

Back to some small studies in burnt umber on small boards (30 by 45cm); still all of Betty, but a nice change from the big oil-glazed ones. And for an slightly bigger change, a street scene from Melbourne (thanks Bean for the pic) with all sorts of entertainment going on.  I particularly like the exchange of glances (impossible to see yet) between the guitarist and the lad sat outside the cafe between his parents.  This is a big canvas, the same size as the big camel one (120cm by something bigger I think), so again, will be a while before it starts getting resolved (or not) but a good fun challenge even if it doesn't work.  I'm kind of wondering about leaving the black lines in (I like the look on the double bass) so may play with a new style as well a new subject matter.  Mmmm.

big camel coming on

Silly really, but I always forget how much longer it takes to paint something big . . . but she's getting there.
