Back to the Show

These two are numbers 2 and 3 in the quartet started with In the Stands that came from wandering around the Alice Springs Show in July of last year.  I want to use these them to play with different ideas about colour and the relationship between figure and ground.  I think.

Playing with some different materials for the new year, pen and ink with watercolour washes.  Enjoying it too.

Really enjoying playing around with these little fellows:  though I am starting to run out of square boards.  Hmmmm

These last two Splendid Wrens will take two 'sittings' as I can't work wet in wet and get the depth of jewel blues I want.  It was fine for the fledgling, as he wasn't quite so bright.  Poor thing.  Waiting to grow up is hard.

Two for the New

Pleased to have finished these two, particularly as I wanted to avoid overpainting them, keeping them loose and 'unfinished' but still resolved.  Kind of a resolution.
